Summer Fun and Other News

The June anniversary of our arrival/return to Arizona has come and gone. It's been an eventful year filled with many challenges, both good and bad. We've had ups and downs. We've had wonderful times we've spent with friends and family we haven't seen in years. We recently attended my uncle's birthday party, which was basically a family reunion. Aunts, uncles, cousins I hadn't seen in many years attended. It was...wonderful. It made my heart ache a bit for my own son, however. It's also been a year since we've seen each other. I never could have imagined that. And it hits me at strange times. I'll see or hear something about fishing or hockey and it'll trigger a bittersweet memory that can bring tears to my eyes. Mother's Day was damn difficult. My first without going to lunch or hanging out. He's an adult, has an extremely busy life and I'm hoping to make it back to Minnesota at some point.
Last night I attended my first writer's group meeting in many months. It was great. A room filled with energy and enthusiasm. I was slightly disappointed to hear other established authors discussing the downward sales trends happening at Amazon. No one seemed to have any easy answers, and that's a bit disconcerting. But, the general consensus was that we'll all just have to hang around and see how it all shakes out. That everyone would just keep on keeping on, writing, publishing and telling the best stories we can and sharing them with the world. And the very idea of it just makes me smile. It just comes down to loving our work, and not everyone can say that!

Beautiful Dreamer by Lacey Thorn

Beautiful Dreamer by Lacey Thorn
(Previously released as part of the Seduction at Midnight Boxed Set and book 0.5 in the Knight’s Watch Series)

Two weeks ago, Chase Riley and her best friend were kidnapped, severely beaten and left for dead. Chase was the lone survivor but has been in a coma since she was found. The police, led by her ex-boyfriend, Detective Phillip Wade, still have no idea what happened.

When Phillip gets the call that his sleeping beauty is finally awake, he rushes to her side. There’s just one little problem. Chase doesn’t recall that fateful night, and doctors aren’t certain if she’ll ever remember. The woman before him is nothing like the laughing jokester Phillip once fell for. This woman is quiet, cautious and afraid.

Lines are crossed from the first moment he holds her in his arms and promises everything will be okay. She doesn’t remember their friendly breakup over his inflexible schedule or her uncertainty about marriage and the stress and pressure of being a cop’s wife.

He’s not the only one watching and waiting to see if she’ll remember. There’s someone else with plans to make sure Chase goes back to sleep—permanently.

Chase spent a restless night in the hospital. Whenever she fell asleep, something always woke her. Sometimes, it was the nurse Phillip had called LaTisha. Other times, it was something else, something she couldn’t place. She’d wake with her heart pounding, hands clenched in the sheets, panting for breath. Each time, Phillip had been there, hovering, trying to make sure she was okay. Something was off about that, too. He was reserved with her, and that scared the hell out of her. Plus, she still didn’t know why she was in the hospital. She’d been ready to demand answers when she’d gotten back from the battery of tests, but as soon as she’d returned to her room and the bed, she’d fallen asleep.

She was incredibly weak. Amazing what lying in a bed sleeping for two weeks did to the body. She was still reeling from the information she’d managed to pull out of Phillip. She’d been in the hospital for weeks in what her doctor called a self-induced coma.

Her nerves were frayed from a morning filled with more tests, and she knew it wouldn’t take much to set her off. Then there was the surprise sitting outside her hospital room door. When the day nurse finally left the room, Chase was done with the interruptions and ready for answers.

“What’s going on?” she demanded as soon as she and Phillip were alone. “I have retrograde amnesia, but I’m not supposed to worry? How? Why? What the hell happened to me? Because I got a good look in the mirror earlier, and I know I didn’t suddenly take up boxing. Why is there a cop in the hallway? Where is Jocelyn? Why haven’t you called her? If she knew I was awake, she’d already be here.”

Phillip sighed wearily and hung his head, hands dangling between his knees where he sat. It killed her to see him so uncertain, to have him treat her with kid gloves as if she were fragile.

“You’re scaring me,” she whispered when he remained silent. Finally, he looked up. For a moment, she swore she saw a flash of fear in his eyes, but she shook it off. That couldn’t be true. Nothing scared Phillip. “Tell me. Please. I need to know.” She groaned in frustration. “What am I not remembering?”

Discreet Madness: Sahara Kelly

Four Regency ladies – forced by society into an ill-fitting mold. Each chooses to travel a different path; one that leads them toward an unexpected destiny and a lover who can match their strengths with his passion.

Four Regency gentlemen of varying reputations; unattached and uninterested in meeting women who will turn their worlds upside down. Or so they believed. None realize that Fate has a surprise in store for each of them…

And oh my goodness!!! The resulting collisions are funny, joyful and explosively sensual…shaking up the Regency in the most delightful of ways.

The gown was sensational against the white of her rounded breasts and the violent red of her hair. Miranda’s eyes glittered through the slits in the velvet mask, and she giggled as she raised her hem slightly and showed off her shockingly black stockings, held up by black ribbon garters. A tiny red satin rose in the center of each garter was the only color she had allowed.
She stood tall, towering over her pregnant friend by almost a foot. Letty knew that if Miranda had not been married so young to Lord Montvale and whisked off to the wilds of Yorkshire, she would have been termed “Goddess” of the Ton within weeks of making her debut.
“Do you have your invitation?” she asked nervously.
“And your carriage?”
“The crest has been covered, the driver is a hire for the evening, and I have taken every precaution, Letty. Stop fussing.”
“How can I not fuss?  You have almost no experience with men, yet you have managed to procure an invitation—heaven knows how—to the home of one of the most licentious men in England. There, you intend to seduce him into bed, and get him to scream out his pleasure while he’s buried to the hilt inside you, thus winning you ten thousand pounds. Which you will then take home to Yorkshire with you and use to secure Montvale House in your name. Did I mention everything?”
“There is something very, very wrong with this plan.”
Miranda widened her green eyes and stared innocently through the mask at her friend. “Wrong?  How can anything be wrong?”
“Well, what you’re thinking about doing—it’s not—you shouldn’t—you are...”
“I’m a widow who is going to be homeless soon if I don’t get money quickly.”  Miranda reached for her cloak. “I won’t be a burden on my friends, and this is as good a way as any to solve my problems, don’t you think?”
She took one last glance into the mirror then turned away and straightened her shoulders. A small smile curved around her generous lips.
“You’re looking forward to it, aren’t you?” asked Letty in disbelief. “You’re actually excited by the idea of seducing one of the biggest rakes in the country, and I’m not just talking about his reputation.”
“You said it yourself, Letty dear. Nick Barbour is quite a man. I cannot, in all fairness, say I am adverse to the idea of—shall we say—trying him on for size?”
Letty sputtered and threw her hands in the air. “You’d better tell me every single detail. Take notes—no, better yet, take measurements.”
The laughter of both women rolled through the entrance hall as they neared the door where Miranda’s carriage was waiting.
Letty reached for her friend and gave her a quick, awkward hug. “Be careful, Miranda. This man is no-one’s toy...”
“Perhaps he’ll be mine by the time this night is over. One never knows. Don’t worry, Letty, I’ll be fine.”
Miranda grinned conspiratorially, and leaned over to drop a light kiss on her friend’s cheek. She turned and left a worried-looking Letty in the middle of her foyer.

All she really wanted was one naughty night before returning to her life as a sheltered country spinster! Flint by Fran Lee

NOTE: Erotic content and naughty words abound.

Flint Calderon was a hard working, hard-bodied, hard headed Texan who'd had to grow up fast. He'd been alone for a long time. He'd kept his grand daddy's sprawling ranch intact in spite of hardships and loss...some said he was as hard as his name.

He didn't take anything he hadn't worked damned hard for. He had his own set of personal guidelines that left no room for cruelty or deceit. He kept his friends close, and his loyalty was a thing of legend in Calder County, Texas.

He went by three simple rules: Keep your word no matter what, pay your debts before buyin' more, and protect those weaker than yourself.

Lily was running from her own personal hell, only to jump from the frying pan into the fire. But the man who'd caught her sneaking into his motel room to get out of the rain was nothing like the bastard she was running from. Even being pinned on that motel bed under a pissed-off cowboy was a damn sight better than being dragged back to the man who'd murdered her mom and made her own life a living hell for so long. If only the hot cowboy wasn't naked as a jaybird...

How could he turn her over to the law? The woman he'd caught was just a rain-soaked, freezing, starving, badly battered little hellcat with nowhere to go and nothin' much to lose. And whoever had beat the hell out of her deserved no mercy...

Excerpt copyright 2015 Fran Lee

She'd hoofed it all morning until she’d managed to catch a ride North with an elderly trucker who thought she was a boy, from the way she was dressed.
She hadn’t minded him calling her “young man” at all. He’d dropped her off at a big truck stop off I-35 in Austin, the closest one to the Event Center. There would be a lot of people coming and going with the rodeo going on, and she could hide in plain sight. She could rest for the night then catch a bus north to Fort Worth. She barely had enough cash to buy a ticket and maybe a night in a cheap room. It had started to drizzle as she walked toward the motels nearest to the Event Center.
But the room rates for even the cheapest motels were a lot higher in Austin than she’d expected, and she’d made the mistake of trying car doors and motel room doors searching for a place where she could doss down for the night, at least until the damn rain stopped.
And now here she was, pinned under an over-helpful…naked…man going on about her damn bruises when all she wanted to do was get the hell out of there and find another unoccupied hidey-hole.
Shit! The last thing she needed was for him to call the cops. But it looked like that was what he was about to do…unless she could talk him out of it.
She should be utterly terrified, being held down on his bed, his warm naked flesh wrapped around her thin, cold body. She felt him lift a bit to adjust the solid ridge of meat that was shoved hard against her belly, yet he made no move to do what Jake had threatened to do. He smelled of whiskey and soap, and mint…sorta like he’d actually brushed his teeth. And his body warmed her cold skin.
And he was concerned about her?
That was a new feeling. And as scared as she was, she felt safe for the first time in years…
“Please, mister…don’t call the cops. I didn’t do anything wrong. Just tried to get dry and warm. Just let me go, and I’ll be outta your hair.”
She swallowed the heavy thickness in her throat as he stared down at her, his dark brown eyes narrowing in disbelief. He wasn’t buying any of it. Maybe she needed to make him feel sorry for her?
“Okay…so I got the shit kicked out of me by a guy who tried to take my money, but I fought him off. Does that satisfy your need to be a damn old snoop?” She hoped she sounded sincere enough.
“Why didn’t you call the cops? Why are you so afraid of calling the cops, darlin’?”
Damn, but he was too fucking perceptive!
She wiggled to get away, but he simply lowered his weight and pinned her harder under him, which shoved that…growing…ridge harder against her inner thighs.
“Are you a runaway?” he asked softly. She felt her heart skip a beat or two as she fumbled for something to say. What was it they always said? The best defense is a good offense?
“I’m twenty-four frickin’ years old. Do I look like a runaway?” She tried to sound exasperated, but she knew her voice was shaking.
“People run away from a lot of things, darlin’.” His eyes were enough to make her swallow her damn tongue as he let them slide down from her hair to her open shirt. “Let’s just pretend I believe your story. Are you gonna behave while I get some pants on, or do I need to keep you pinned on my bed for the night?” A quirk at the corner of his too-sexy-to-be-real mouth made her swallow again. “Your clothes are wet through.”
Control…keep in control, Lily…
She licked dry lips and nodded jerkily. His dark eyes settled on her mouth as her tongue flicked over them, and her stomach clenched as if she’d just been punched. Heat began to trickle through her, but then he eased off her and lifted up from the bed.
 Holy fucking shit!
Her eyes widened as she let them slide down his body. She’d seen some great bodies, but nothing like his. Every lean, long muscle rippled under smooth, tanned skin, marred only by a bit of black hair scattered in the center of his chest, and in a dark silky line that led down to the thatch at his groin. Surrounding that wide awake cock that was pointed directly at her.
Oh my God…

And he was totally covered with dark, livid bruises like hers!

“Ogden, I came to say good-bye.”
“Damn.” His tanned face turned pale. “Let’s go inside and discuss it.”
Realizing he was fighting to keep his mate, her heart fluttered in her chest. They stepped into his office and closed the door. The room had his stamp all over it.
Bits of wood, tools, dusty papers, and rags littered the worktable, and the air smelled woody and masculine.
But he didn’t seem to have conversation on his mind. Instead, his strong arms slipped around her.
“Don’t go,” he whispered in her hair.
His woodsy scent, mixed with his lust, made her dizzy. Her fingers dug into the back of his coarse cotton shirt. Against her will, her nails clawed the fabric, pulling it out of his jeans. They eyed each other, two predators circling a kill.
“Convince me,” she whispered.
In reply, his mouth surged against hers, the force knocking her back against his file cabinets. His tongue breached her mouth, claiming her so fast her breath faltered. While she tangled her fingers in his tousled chestnut hair, broad hands squeezed her breasts, bringing her nipples to rock-hard points. With her heart thundering in her ears, she unbuttoned her shirt before he could rip the buttons off this one, too.
Panting hard, he paused to ask, “When can you conceive?”
“D-during the full moon,” she replied, struggling for her own breath. “It’s safe now.”
He jerked down the zipper of her jeans and spun her around. “Then hang on!”
As she bent over and grabbed the two nearest metal handles, her swollen breasts tumbled out of her bra. Hot moisture flooded her core. No matter how many penises she allowed inside her, for whatever reasons, she vowed she would only remember his.
“Just this once,” she gasped as he tugged down her jeans. “I can’t stay.”
“It doesn’t work that way,” he ground out as he grabbed her hips, keeping her immobile. “You’re my mate, and you’re going to stay here where you belong.”
The slippery head of his cock brushed her buttocks, scorching her sensitive skin before he plunged it home. He filled her cunt with the force of a sledgehammer, making her cry out. Any doubts she had about the man being a Dominant evaporated.

“You’re no Omega, Ogden Woods.” Her voice cracked as he pulled out and plunged back in. “You’re a Dominant in an Omega’s clothing. Why?”

A New Cover: Seduced by Blood, A Sangre Novel, Book One

She's a cop.
He's a vamp.
Life is a bitch.

I'm excited to release a new cover for Seduced by Blood, A Sangre Novel, Book One.
I'm finally working on Book Two and I'm pretty psyched about it. Happy to have a more updated cover as well, though the original was brilliant and beautiful, Emmy Ellis.

Off to have my hair cut today. Hoping for some highlights, as well. We'll see. Going to another stylist the first time is always a little scary.
I have several works in the process, which is a first for me because I could never multi-task books. I was very one brained! lol

Have a great day, all.

Morning Shine

Morning Shine
I live in an apartment complex and took the pups out this morning. The pic doesn't do the sky justice, but it was so bright, so...peaceful. I had to get a pic. I'm going to ask my son to send my camera. Yep, forgot that and left it in Minnesota. It was one of the many things I wasn't able to bring.

I'm trying to write more, trying to blog and tweet. It's tough some days. Some days I don't feel like I have a thing to say. lol

So, this morning it's a pic. Hopefully soon I'll have a release date for my next book. Keeping you all up to date, don't worry. {:

Have a wonderful weekend,

Settling In: Arizona

It's hard to believe we left Minnesota only two months ago. A lot has happened since then, a lot of changes that we're all getting used to. From living in near complete isolation in Northern Minnesota, to moving to a larger city near the Twin Cities, to living in an apartment complex in Arizona with heavy traffic and thousands of people, and the's all an adjustment.

I've been focusing on writing. I'm joining the Valley of The Sun writers group, a local chapter of RWA (Romance Writers of America.) It's helped get me back into the business side of writing and marketing. It's awesome to meet other writers in person and not just online. To sit in a room with folks that have the same goal of publishing their work, and the abundant amount of energy that extends from that.

It's hard to write when I'm manage one crisis to the next, but things have calmed down and we're settling in, getting routines down and feeling more comfortable as a whole.

I've been swimming laps in the pool, despite the shoulder injury from last year, and working out in the gym. My health has been something that I've always wanted to get a handle upon and it feels amazing to be making some progress with that goal. Like everything else in life, it's slow going, but seeing progress helps with motivation.

I have several books in the work. I'm working on a horror story that all started with a creepy nightmare and the mailbox man. It's evolved from there and I'm pretty stoked about the premise. More to come on that later. It's kind of top secret. lol I'm probably going to try to go non-erotic with this piece. I feel like that will widen the audience and I want to share this story with all readers.

I'm working on book two of the vampire novel from the Sangre series. Book one was Seduced by Blood. Book two will be Braden's story. I had trouble reconnecting to it for a bit, but I'm working through that.

I'm still pecking away on a book about the death of my sister and the tragedy with the VA. It's extremely painful but I'm trying.

I just made Leather and Lace Available on Amazon Kindle as, Defending Lace.

I still have Body Candy, which I'd like to release for Valentine's Day, 2015. I do need to create a new cover for this release.

Also G Spot, though that needs a little bit of work and a new cover.

Not to mention, a few new ideas.

I'm trying to learn more about marketing and some inexpensive ways to get my work out there, besides FB and Twitter. And yes, I need to tweet much more often. I can never think of things to tweet that are short enough to tweet!

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Old Friends

I released the updated version of Leather and Lace yesterday. This was a book written in 2007 and originally published by Ellora's Cave. Not only did I change the title to Defending Lace, due to many other books online with that title, but I had to update the book.

I especially had to watch out for old technology.

I didn't think that was a problem until my female PI was looking through the phone book. By that I mean the Yellow Pages. Oh, yeah, remember them?

She was also in her automobile at one point, conducting a bit of surveillance, and pulled out an old manila envelope of research she'd collected on her mark. Nope, I thought. She'd be searching online for that information. I realized at that moment, I had a bit of updating to do.

Cell phone tech has revolutionized the world. Good ol' Google or Bing, you know.

I also added and updated the story, as well as picking up all of those loose threads I'd left unresolved years ago when I'd first written Leather and Lace. I was damned lucky to have my manuscript published by EC and years later, I still respect what Jaid Black has done with Ellora's Cave. She put erotica on the map, to the benefit of us all.

I also changed a key scene, ditching the basement where my heroine is held hostage and switching it out for a deer processing shack. Minnesota is riddled with them, I tell you. Hunting there is a way of life, a way to feed your family, as much as it is a sport.

I have my first two books in a drawer (flash drive) and I'm even thinking of getting them out, blowing off the dust and seeing what I really have there. Back then, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, however. I can just imagine the amount of updating they would need, all of the fleshing out of the characters, etc.

I also have many jump starts for books as well as a Christmas novel that's missed 2 Christmases in a row. Not this year!!!

Have you found tech relics in your work?

Have a great Sunday, everyone.
